The weekend weather forecast for 24 and 25 October 2026 in Chile comes in two halves: a still unsettled Saturday, with showers and likely thunderstorms in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, and a clear, warmer Sunday, with highs of 24 to 25 °C in Santiago and in the Biobío valley. The change follows a week of heavy rain that led Senapred, Chile's disaster prevention service, to declare a red alert across the whole region on Tuesday 20 October.
On Thursday 22, at 14:07 and 14:45, Senapred cancelled the two red alerts in force in the Metropolitan Region, but kept a yellow alert for landslides in 10 foothill districts, including San José de Maipo and Lo Barnechea, plus a preventive early alert for the whole region because of thunderstorms, hail and strong gusts, according to BioBioChile. If you plan to head up the Cajón del Maipo or to Farellones, that is the first thing to check.

How to make the most of the weekend weather forecast
- Save the mountains for Sunday: Saturday still carries a chance of thunderstorms in the Metropolitan Region; Sunday is the most stable day.
- Wrap up at dawn: with clear skies, Sunday's low in Santiago drops to 7 °C, even if the afternoon goes above 24 °C.
- Do not cross streams with water in them: with the yellow alert in force, authorities ask people to stay away from foothill ravines.
- In the south, Sunday is the best bet: if you are going to Valdivia or Pucón, Sunday brings sunshine and temperatures above 20 °C.
- Look ahead to the next long weekend: the full calendar is in our guide to the public holidays left in 2026.
