La Parva will open two more weekends: skiing until November 1

La Parva will open for six more days of skiing over two weekends: Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October, and Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026. The ski resort in the Andes above Santiago had scheduled the end of its calendar for October 18, but decided to extend it because of the conditions the mountain still has and at its customers' request, the specialist site Nevasport reported, updating the story on October 21.

Skiing in November is unusual in central Chile. It is happening this year thanks to an October of heavy snowfall in the Andes, the same one that led Valle Nevado to extend its season into November. La Parva calls 2026 a “historic season”.

Who else is still open: Valle Nevado and El Colorado

With this decision, La Parva joins Valle Nevado, which had announced it would keep slopes open until November 8. The area's third resort, El Colorado, has not announced an extension in the sources we checked. In the rest of the country the seasons have already ended or have no extra dates published.

The extension runs with a third of the lifts of the full season, so think of it as a few last spring runs rather than a day with the whole mountain available. Extending the calendar was already being considered in August, when La Parva spoke of close to four metres of accumulated snow, according to Nevasport.

Getting up the mountain: watch the Farellones road

La Parva is reached by route G-21, the Farellones road, from Lo Barnechea. That road had restrictions on Tuesday 20 and early Wednesday 21 because of Senapred's red alert, as we reported in our story on the Farellones road closure, and according to La Tercera it was still on the list of preventive closures “until the end of the event” on Wednesday the 21st. Before heading to La Parva on Friday the 23rd, check:

  • Status of route G-21: the Lo Barnechea municipality and the Traffic Control Operations Unit report any restrictions or chain checks.
  • Chains: with snow on the road, the police may require them.
  • Up and down times: confirm whether timed or alternating traffic is in force on the G-21.
  • Operations on the day: the resort may open fewer lifts than announced if the weather changes.

Tips for spring skiing

  • Early is better: in spring the snow is hard in the morning and softens in the midday sun.
  • Sun protection: radiation at altitude is high; wear sunscreen and goggles or filtered sunglasses.
  • Light layers: afternoons can be mild and mornings cold.
  • Budget: if it is your first time, our guide to how much it costs to ski in Chile helps you work out ticket, rental and transfer costs.
