There are four public holidays left in Chile in 2026, but only one creates a long weekend: Christmas, on Friday, December 25. The Day of Evangelical and Protestant Churches falls on Saturday, October 31, All Saints' Day on Sunday, November 1, and the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, December 8, according to the official calendar at feriados.cl, which lists each date with its law.
For anyone planning trips around Chile, that means more than ten weeks without long weekends between Monday, October 12, the last one, and Christmas. The next one after that is New Year 2027, which also falls on a Friday.

Source: feriados.cl, checked on October 20, 2026. December 31 is a bank holiday, not a public holiday for all workers.
Law 20,299 moves the Evangelical holiday to the previous Friday when October 31 falls on a Tuesday, or to the following Friday when it falls on a Wednesday. In 2026 it falls on a Saturday, so it does not move and does not create a long weekend.

The next long weekend: Christmas 2026
Friday, December 25, is a mandatory day off for retail workers, with the exceptions set by law, and creates a three-day weekend from the 25th to the 27th. It marks the start of the summer high season, when bus fares, flights and accommodation prices rise on the coast and in the south. Our guide to Chile's travel seasons explains which destinations work best in each period.

How to make the most of the public holidays left in 2026
- Short trips in October and November: with no long weekends, destinations less than two hours from Santiago work best, such as the Cajón del Maipo or Viña del Mar.
- December 8: it falls on a Tuesday, so taking Monday 7 off gives you a four-day weekend; a good date for the south before high season.
- Christmas and New Year: two long weekends in a row. Book ahead; our guide to transport in Chile compares buses, flights and trains.
- Check road conditions: spring still brings weather fronts and closures in the Andes.
