Climbing Villarrica volcano in November 2026

The tour takes a chairlift to 2,000 metres and then hikes 4 to 5 hours to the crater at 2,847 metres, rated medium-high difficulty on the listing. The chairlift (CLP 10,000) and lunch are paid separately.

The volcano's activity changed this year. On 4 September 2026 Sernageomin raised the technical alert from green to yellow because of minor explosions in the crater, ejected pyroclasts and a lava lake closer to the surface; on 28 October it introduced a new scale of activity states and placed Villarrica at EAV 1, minor instability. The crater climb is subject to the restrictions set by the authorities and Villarrica National Park: confirm with the operator before you pay.

Which Pucón tour to choose for your plan

Trancura river rafting: the cheapest adrenaline

It runs a 6-kilometre class 3 (intermediate) stretch of the lower Trancura, with about an hour on the water. Gear and photos are included, and children under 8 are not allowed. Before any adventure activity, read what to check before booking adventure tourism.

Geométricas hot springs: the rest day

The tour includes entry to the hot springs in the Coñaripe ravine, with pools linked by a red boardwalk. Since 1 October 2026 the site has operated as Termas Martini under new management, as we explain in what changed at Termas Geométricas. The Civitatis listing still uses the old name.

Huerquehue and Huilo Huilo: native forest

The Huerquehue hike includes the park fee and lasts 5 hours. Huilo Huilo is the longest day (13 hours) but gives the most hours for the money, and includes entry to the reserve and the Volcano Memorial Museum.
