Valle Nevado extends its season to December 1: skiing in December for the first time

Valle Nevado has extended its ski season for a second time and will operate until Tuesday, December 1, 2026, the first time in its history it opens in December. With that date, the resort in the Andes above Santiago will reach 154 days of operation after receiving more than 7.4 meters of snow this winter, Diario Financiero and The Clinic reported on October 30.

The season was originally due to end on October 18. On October 8 the resort announced a first extension to November 8, which we covered in this story, and it now adds three more weeks. "When we announced we would extend the season to November 8, we were already setting a milestone," general manager Dominique Rudloff said, as quoted by Nevasport.

Valle Nevado until December 1: the calendar

From November 8, Valle Nevado will no longer open every day. It will run on selected dates, mainly Friday-to-Sunday weekends, with reduced hours from 8:30 to 14:00, to make the most of the best morning snow and for safety reasons, according to The Clinic.

A record season at Valle Nevado

The resort, owned by the US group Mountain Capital Partners, expected more than 310,000 visits when it was due to close on October 18. With the extensions, it expects to beat that figure: "Although the final numbers are still some way off, we will exceed that number," Rudloff said. The final tally will be known after closing.

"Reaching 154 days of operation is possible not only because we have received more than 7.4 meters of snow," but thanks to the teams' work, the general manager added. The season was marked by a winter of exceptional snowfall: in the same range, Portillo closed on October 11 with 1,254 cm of snowfall.
