Easter Island tours in 2026: which Rapa Nui trips to book and what they cost

With CLP 150,000 per person in tours and a CLP 95,000 park ticket, a foreign adult can see the main sites of Easter Island in two days: the Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki and Anakena trip costs from CLP 75,000 and the Rano Kau, Orongo, Vinapu and Ahu Akivi trip another CLP 75,000, according to Civitatis on 7 November 2026. On Rapa Nui a tour is not a luxury: Rapa Nui National Park requires visitors to enter with a guide accredited by Ma'u Henua, the community that manages it.

This guide helps you decide what to book. For the trip itself (flights, days and requirements), read Easter Island: what to know before you go, and to understand what you will see, what the moai of Easter Island mean.

Easter Island tours compared

All tours leave from Hanga Roa, the island's only town, and almost all pick you up at your lodging. Between them, the two full-day trips cover the park's best-known sites.

Which Easter Island tour to choose

Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki and Anakena: the must-do

It follows the south and east coast: Vaihu, Akahanga, the Rano Raraku quarry (with a 75-minute walk among half-carved moai), the 15 moai of Ahu Tongariki, Te Pito Kura and Anakena beach. It is rated 9.1 out of 10 from 15 reviews, with free cancellation up to 2 hours before. If you can only pay for one tour, make it this one.

Rano Kau, Orongo, Vinapu and Ahu Akivi: the second day

The second day covers the west and centre: the stone walls of Vinapu, the Rano Kau crater, the ceremonial village of Orongo (a 75-minute walk), the seven moai of Ahu Akivi and the Ana Te Pahu cave, which is why torches are included. Short on time? The half-day Orongo and Rano Kau trip costs CLP 55,600, but free cancellation ends 3 days before.

Snorkelling, carving and a private tour: for a third day

Once you have seen the archaeological sites, snorkelling at Anakena and the wooden moai carving workshop are the options outside the park. The private tour suits families or groups who want their own pace; depending on the option it adds horse riding or snorkelling.

The Rapa Nui National Park ticket and the mandatory guide

Every visitor needs a ticket, bought through the park's official sales page. It is valid for 10 consecutive days from the first site you visit, covers the 12 open sites and allows a single entry to Orongo and Rano Raraku, so avoid booking two tours that repeat those sites.

Tips for your Easter Island tours

  • Order: do the Rano Raraku and Tongariki tour first; if the weather turns, you still have room for the rest.
  • What to bring: walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat and water. The Rano Raraku and Orongo walks are exposed and windy.
  • Keep your ticket handy: it is personal, shown with your passport or ID at each entrance, and non-refundable.
  • Respect: do not touch the moai or leave the paths; fines range from 5 to 100 UTM according to the park.
  • Connectivity and cash: carry Chilean pesos and read which eSIM to use in Chile.

If you would rather book a multi-day package with hotel and tours included, we compare six 3 to 7-day options in our guide to Easter Island tour packages.
