Chile's protected areas managed by Conaf received 2,989,788 visits in 2025, and Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park was the most visited in the country, with 597,307, almost twice as many as Torres del Paine (337,224). That is what the official Protected Areas Visitation 2025 spreadsheet from the National Forest Corporation shows. Revised on February 28, 2026, it brings together monthly visits to 105 parks, reserves and natural monuments.

*Updated on October 18, 2026.* This ranking is updated on this same page whenever Conaf publishes a new annual spreadsheet.

Why Vicente Pérez Rosales comes first

Chile's oldest national park, created in 1926, has three advantages: it is an hour from Puerto Varas on a paved road, its Petrohué Falls can be seen on a short walk, and it also receives cruise passengers calling at Puerto Montt. The spreadsheet records 14,582 cruise visits to the park in 2025, 61% of the 23,767 cruise visits to all Conaf areas. Its best month was February, with 97,978 visits. We cover it in detail in our guide to Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park.

Torres del Paine, in second place, follows a different pattern: its visits are concentrated in summer (59,183 in January) and between June and August drop to 3,215 to 5,342 a month, when the winter rules apply. Our Torres del Paine trekking guide explains the W and O circuits.

Malalcahuello, the winter surprise

Malalcahuello National Reserve, in Araucanía, is third with 318,939 visits, ahead of Conguillío. 79% came between June and September: in July alone it had 106,966, more than any other protected area in the country that month. The reason is snow: the reserve surrounds the Lonquimay volcano and the Corralco ski resort, which we describe in our Corralco guide.

The quietest months were May (131,777) and June (153,738). Shares calculated by viajandochile.com from Conaf's totals.

How to read these figures

  • They are visits, not people: someone who enters on two days may be counted twice.
  • Three recording channels: Conaf adds tickets from its platform (Pases Parques and kiosks), cruise visits and visits recorded off-platform.
  • Areas without data: several areas show zero visits because of closures or no entry control, and Los Flamencos has no data from September to December.
  • Conaf areas only: Rapa Nui National Park and private parks are not included.
