Cerro San Cristóbal, within Parque Metropolitano, is Santiago's largest green lung and one of the few urban hikes you can do without leaving the city, with views over the whole capital and, on clear days, the Andes mountain range in the background.
How to get to the top
There are three ways up: walking marked trails (1 to 2 hours depending on the access point), by funicular from the Bellavista neighborhood, or by bike along the paved road also used by local runners and cyclists on weekends, when it's closed to car traffic.
What's at the top
At the summit sits the Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception, visible from much of the city, along with a 360-degree panoramic lookout. Nearby you'll also find Santiago's zoo and a public pool with city views, popular during the summer months.
